It came in as a surprise to us as well when “pmslider” contacted us with an offer to buy ownership of our WordPress plugin “Weptile Image Slider Widget”. We have built this free plugin for the community. We had only received a few donations over years which was more than what we expected.
Then came a serious offer for our plugin. It was like being in the right place at the right time. As we were planning an improved new version for this plugin and other projects in parallel, we were trying to plan our resources and costs for these new projects. When the offer came in for the initial plugin, it seemed like a great chance to convert our initial plugin to a capital investment to our following project. It was a win-win situation.
In short, Weptile Image Slider Widget plugin is no longer “by Weptile”. As WordPress repository doesn’t allow us to change the name of the plugin, you might see our name along with the plugin, but it’s not really ours anymore and we won’t have any connection to it apart from the plugin URL.
